Southwest identifies as the most productive airline and gives its clients a satisfying traveling experience. The Southwest Airline has recently merged with the AirTran Airways and has the possibility of buying other Airlines in future leading to its expansion. The merging of the airline requires the Human Resources of the Southwest Airlines to come up with ways that will combine the employees from both airlines and ensure proper working as a single company at large. This paper aims at helping on the understanding of the st rategic and administrative roles of the human resources.The CEO of this company Gary Kelly came up with a company motto, Living the Southwest way.  This means working hard, having fun and treating everyone with respect. This would create easy access to the air tickets on the other hand developing the job market to the web designers. * Venturing off the airline into international markets means there will be a change in their products, which will make them more preferable to the customers and therefore increasing their sales.Threats * The airline faces challenges on the cost of fuel, which will reflect the increase in the ticket prices. This will lead to fewer customers traveling as they avoid much traveling when the prices go up. Less income may result in retrenching of some staffs since the company may not be in a position to pay their wages. * The airline is facing competition from rival companies since they are working on web booking to their best. This makes the competitors more favorable to the customers, and this leads to Southwest gaining less income. * There are continued labor negotiations that are ongoing, and this is likely to result in an increase in wages. This may result in decreased air travel as passengers are in fear of attacks during their travel.
